This interview illustrates SKF CSR journey, from achieving great results in their EcoVadis evaluations, to applying the feedback and expanding the scope of their CSR program to include evaluation of their own suppliers.
SKF is a leading global supplier of bearings, seals, mechatronics, lubrication systems and has a clear statement on sustainability: “SKF as a company has had a strong focus on sustainability and social aspects for a long time. In order to help customers and people working in supply chains, you need to have data and you need a tool to be able to make those judgements in a relatively quantitative way and that is what Railsponsible/EcoVadis does.” says Rob Jenkinson, Director of Corporate Sustainability at SKF.
SKF began responding to the EcoVadis Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) assessment in 2009 at the request of their client Alstom Transport. They have since increased their score, and recently applied for membership to Railsponsible, the sustainable procurement collaboration initiative for improving sustainability practices in the railway industry supply chain.
