The latest contribution to this process is the use of an independent and innovative electronic platform, ECOVADIS. This collaborative tool was designed by a young French SME whose expertise in this domain has become a reference in just a few years. The platform makes it possible to assess suppliers from a CSR perspective on the basis of recognised environmental, ethical and social criteria. This assessment is used when choosing a supplier, alongside other criteria such as price and quality. Depending on the results of the assessment, corrective plans for progress can be provided to the suppliers.

Alcatel Shanghai Bell Company, Ltd and The company Alcatel-Lucent has a very complete system for the suppliers in terms of corporate social responsibility management. Regarding the specific operation, Alcatel Shanghai Bell Company, Ltd assesses the suppliers by three methods for verification practice. One of these is to cooperate with a French professional Corporate Social Responsibility Company EcoVadis. EcoVadis evaluates the strategic suppliers CSR performance requested by Alcated-Lucent in accordance with the United Nations Global Compact and the Electronics Industry Code of Conduct.

Renault to track key suppliers on CSR with IT tool
Car manufacturer Renault is developing a system to track the behaviour of its suppliers.
The IT-based tool will pull together all the data collected on vendors such as findings from sustainability audits, supplier’s self-evaluations and efforts to increase supplier engagement. Developed by EcoVadis, it enables Renault to evaluate and follow the environmental and social performance of its key suppliers in more than 100 countries.

EcoVadis became today the 1st CSR/Sustainability solution provider to join the TechCrunch Europe index :
TechCrunch Europe Top 100 is a regularly updated Index of the most innovative and highest-potential European tech companies. The Index is focused on mobile and web companies, although Cleantech and gadget companies will have a presence on the list, which covers the EMEA region.
The index has been created in association with startup tracker YouNoodle Scores. Supply Management.com - Sustainable procurement investment 'critical'

Sustainable procurement is considered "important" or "critical" by 90 per cent of buyers, according to a survey published yesterday.
Over 80 per cent of procurement directors invested in sustainable purchasing initiatives in 2008, with 35 per cent reporting they intend to spend more on such programmes, despite the global recession.
The Sustainable Procurement Benchmark Report, released by education body HEC Paris and sustainable procurement experts EcoVadis, questioned procurement executives at 95 of Europe's largest companies about their corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability practices.
