Gemaco’s significant improvement in their EcoVadis rating serves as an excellent case study of how suppliers can utilize the EcoVadis scorecard as a roadmap towards building a strong internal CSR management system. Gemaco was first invited to participate in the EcoVadis assessment in 2012 at the request of Proximus (previously Belgacom). Through three evaluations, Gemaco has improved their rating from 38 to 58 and now 60, an impressive Silver Medal score.

Integrating  Corporate  Social Responsibility  (CSR)  into  core  business  practices  is  increasingly  becoming  a  growing  trend  worldwide  as  more  companies  are  working  towards  building  a  strong  internal Gemaco  sustainability  strategy.  Gemaco  N.V.,  an  international  supplier  of  promotional  items  and  advertising  gifts  headquartered  in  Brussels, Belgium,  is  an  excellent  example  of  a  company  that  takes  advantage  of  its  global  presence  in  order  to  integrate  its  CSR practices worldwide and throughout  its  supply  chain.  Fabian  Haenggi,  Procurement & CSR Manager at Gemaco,  pointed  out  in  an  interview  with  EcoVadis,  that  ‘Ethical  thinking  and  growing  demand’  are  the  two  factors  that  influenced  CSR  to  become  one  of  Gemaco’s  core  business  strategies.  Today, building and maintaining a strong  CSR  management  system  is  becoming  a  priority,  as  individual  companies  are  feeling  both  personal  and  market  pressures  to  implement  responsible  business practice. Gemaco sustainability growth serves as a strong example for upcoming suppliers

”What helped me a lot was the Scorecard, where it clearly lists what you have to do. So actually, I did not have to sit down and think about what I was going to do, but I clearly had the tasks and what had to be done already on paper.”

Fabian Haenggi, Procurement & CSR Manager, Gemaco
